3. Open the **Shutterstock** image file in Photoshop by choosing File | Open, and select the file from the drop-down window. Then click the Open button.
4. Now you will have a new open window that should look like the **Output** window from Figure 6-3.
The file should be ready to render.
## Rendering with Adobe Photoshop
1. Choose File | Render.
A new window called the Render dialog box should open. This is where you set the file up for rendering.
2. In the Render dialog box, select the appropriate setting according to the requirements of your design (300-dpi is an example). Also make sure the Rendering Settings button has a check mark in it.

Likewise, I use Gimp to edit and create images and my colleague Max use Gimp to create unique banner designs. They work well, but sometimes I wonder why they’re not better.
It’s also free and open source software. That means it’s created by developers for developers, who know exactly what you want and why you want it, in full detail.
So, why not migrate to another software?
Worries about the future
Using anything not made by Adobe is usually seen as risky. It can have an impact on the company’s future (if it ever receives support for your hardware again) and potentially alter your data.
Personally, I’d rather have a solution that works on many platforms but doesn’t lock you into just one software platform. But I’d also like to think that Adobe would take the stability of their products seriously.
Concerns about privacy
We all know that the internet is a strange place, especially when it comes to search engines and data collection. A lot of people worry about their digital footprints, their online personas, about how their online activity will be used by other companies and to what extent.
Using a company that collects and uses your data to generate unique identifiers – such as an internet protocol address – is a big no-no. We know that internet provider’s and hosting companies log our browsing habits to optimize the experience and gather data for market research, but we’re not used to it.
If you use unique identifiers to track the number of visits to your website or the location of your machine in a data center, you are literally out of luck.
You won’t find a solution in another free software because it’s meant to be more anonymous than other services. We use a VPN connection to access our virtual personal networks to improve the privacy of our internet connections. The only option with a similar purpose for graphic designers is to use an anonymous browser (which is exactly how we work).
Worries about stability
Finally, you need to be aware that the community and the version of the software you use can also change and have an impact on your work.
You can use different versions of Photoshop and Gimp and find that some work and some don’t. That can be quite frustrating.
We also know that the best software in the world is rarely perfect and that bugs can happen. Usually, you don’t have to face any big problems, but you can have daily crashes

10 reasons why early childhood intervention works
Growing up is not easy. We are told this time and time again in different ways from different sources. But the one thing that is not mentioned or explained is the concept of early childhood intervention. Intervention is all about preventing behavioural issues from developing at all. This must be done in a dedicated manner and for this the best option is to start early. Your child must receive proper attention and stimulation from the time they are born or before if possible.
Early childhood intervention is also called ‘Kindergarten’ or ‘Pre-school’. Its purpose is to provide a structured, planned approach for the child’s growth and development. If you are considering enrolling your baby in this program, here are 10 reasons why you should!
1. Builds confidence
Early childhood intervention is as important as any other developmental skill. It helps to grow the confidence of the child in his or her abilities. Children need to learn how to balance on their own with little help. So starting early can make a big difference in terms of physical coordination, confidence, independence and responsibility. Your child will learn to interact and be creative with other children and adults too. These activities will be remembered for the rest of their life. They will bring confidence and open them up to other things. A sense of confidence is the most important thing for any child.
2. Develops imagination
As children grow up, they tend to repeat what they have been shown. Just because you see a car doesn’t mean they will start to build a car or be fascinated by cars. But when a child is first introduced to different modes of transportation they will be intrigued. This is a great example of the many benefits of early childhood intervention. Children learn by doing so it is important to take advantage of their natural inquisitiveness. When they are told about other objects, they are forced to experiment with their imagination and see what they can create.

House GOP holds off on vote on military spending bill
The House, controlled by Republicans, rejected a Democratic measure on Thursday to block President Obama’s plan to boost defense spending, sending the political battle over an ambitious multi-billion dollar defense bill into the White House’s lap.
Republicans postponed a vote on the two-year $575 billion bill after objecting to Democratic calls for hearings on the president’s request for more funds to fight Islamic State and also to fight a massive buildup of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Democrats had hoped their opposition would encourage more Republican members to vote with them, but every Republican but 13 voted to strip the Defense Authorization bill of provisions seeking to rein in what they see as unnecessary increases in war spending.
The vote was 223 to 199.
Republicans said the Democratic proposal to restrict forces in Afghanistan was a potential giveaway to the Taliban.
Democrats said the bill was too short of funding for the war in Afghanistan and that the freeze on troops could slow the U.S. exit strategy from the 16-year-old war.
Republicans had already rejected a rival Democratic proposal to limit funding for the war, with just three days left in the congressional budget process for combining the two bills and submitting the final compromise to Obama.
“We are standing up for our commander-in-chief’s plan, which we think is the right plan and will get us to the finish line,” said House Speaker John Boehner.
Instead of the usual measure passed by the House, the top-ranking Republican and Democratic leaders agreed on a $553 billion “minibus” bill that is due to be voted on later on Thursday.
Both sides said that agreement avoided the risk of a repeat of the embarrassing vote delay last week when the House failed to get the two-year spending bill for military, aid to countries around the world and several other items passed.
The difference in this case is that the “minibus” bill has 12 provisions to ease military spending, but some Democrats objected to some of them, and they joined Republicans to strip those provisions out of the final deal.
The House voted, however, to adopt a rule that takes effect next year, requiring that all funds for Afghanistan be spent by January 2017.
Obama decided last fall to begin a gradual pullout of the 33,000 U.S. forces in Afghanistan by the end of 2016, but a deal over pulling out is still elusive.
