Photoshop started out as a program that enabled manipulation of files, not images. Photoshop debuted in 1993 with the release of Photoshop 3. The Photoshop monster has grown and evolved over the years, but the core components remain the same.

Source editing
The original version of Photoshop enabled you to create and edit source files, that is, files that had already been created in other applications, such as Photo-Paint, for example. When you’ve opened a file in Photoshop, it then converts the file into a PSD file. The PSD file is not a bit-for-bit copy of the original. It’s a version of the original that has been altered by Photoshop so that editing and changes made in Photoshop are evident.
When converting a file, you have control over how the original file is converted to a PSD file. You can choose to convert the file as an RGB image, for example, or as a CMYK color space.
You can choose RGB when the original file was created in a color space that supports the color space you convert it to, and you can choose CMYK when the original file was created in a color space that supports the color space you convert it to. See Chapter 3 for more on color space.
When you convert a file, you can choose to leave the original untouched, or you can apply specific image adjustments to the original before converting it into a PSD file. You can convert the file to another color space, create a new layer, and add a filter to the newly added layer before converting it into a PSD file.

Import images in Photoshop Elements
When starting your journey to edit images in Photoshop Elements you will first need to get the images from your camera or scanner.
Click on the File > Import option on the left of the screen and select either, All photos or Images from Camera/Scanner.
When you’re done dragging the files, open them one at a time to view them in the browser. You can then select them and then save them as a JPEG with the desired quality in your “My Pictures” folder on your computer.
After saving your images, you will then open your folder and begin the process of editing them.
Select an image and click on the Edit option. This is where you will find the following features in Photoshop Elements.
Crop and resize
Adjust color
Adjust brightness/contrast
Rotate an image
Change its quality
Add text
Merge images
Resize images
Rotate or flip images
There are many more options that can be used but these should be the easiest to use as most people are familiar with their use.
Step 1: Open an Image and Crop it
To start editing your image in Photoshop Elements, you will first need to open it.
First, click on the image and then select Edit option.
On the opening page of the editor, you can open it by clicking the “Open” button or by clicking on “Open.”
Next, the image will open in the editor.
The Crop option will be a button on the top-right of the editor.
This will give you an option to either crop the image or use the automatic crop option.
Click on Crop
You will be prompted to find the area of the image that you want to crop.
You can click on the guides or on the area of your image that you want to crop.

FIG. 7 is a partially perspective view showing a conventional actuator. FIG. 8 is a front sectional view showing a configuration of a gear mechanism incorporated in the conventional actuator. FIG. 9 is a perspective view showing an armature of the actuator. FIG. 10 is a perspective view showing a planetary gear system incorporated in the conventional actuator. FIG. 11 is a perspective view showing a motor which drives the planetary gear mechanism.
As shown in FIG. 7, the conventional actuator includes a disk-shaped rotor 10 which is rotated by a motor with a disk-shaped yoke 12 and an armature 13 fixed to a shaft of the disk-shaped rotor 10 by press-fitting. The disk-shaped rotor 10 and the armature 13 are fixed to respective gears (not shown) and engaged with each other. Accordingly, the disk-shaped rotor 10 is rotated by the armature 13 due to a magnetic field generated by the motor and is rotated by a friction between the rotor 10 and the armature 13.
The disk-shaped rotor 10 is held by press-fitting in a gear box 20. The gear box 20 includes a flange 21 and an inner housing 22 which is coupled to the flange 21. The flange 21 is formed with an aperture 22a for a bearing of the rotor 10 therein. The inner housing 22 includes an opening 22b. The aperture 22a and the opening 22b are fitted and sealed by an O-ring 23. The rotor 10 is supported to be rotatable in the gear box 20 by a plurality of spherical balls 24.
The inner housing 22 of the gear box 20 and the armature 13 are coupled by a fastener 25 such as a screw. The gear box 20 is formed with a wiring board 26. The wiring board 26 is electrically connected to a motor controller (not shown). The wiring board 26 is fixed to a gear box front plate 28. A member 29 is mounted to the gear box front plate 28 and is coupled to a cooling fan 31 of a heat sink 30. The cooling fan 31 is fixed to the gear box front plate 28 by mounting a bolt 32 to the gear box front plate 28.
