The results showed that in osteoporotic patients, the total bone area (P = 0.000), new bone area (P = 0.008), cortical bone area/total bone area (P = 0.027), and cortical bone area (P = 0.008) were significantly decreased in relation to the control group, whereas the total marrow area (P = 0.503) and total resorption area (P = 0.420) did not differ significantly. However, in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta, the total bone area (P = 0.006), new bone area (P = 0.006), and cortical bone area/total bone area (P = 0.012) were significantly decreased, but the total marrow area and total resorption area did not differ significantly from the control group. Furthermore, osteogenesis imperfecta patients had a higher number of multinucleated osteoclasts. It was concluded that patients with osteoporosis and osteogenesis imperfecta had a significant reduction in the thickness
