In oil and gas exploration and production, it is important to obtain the data representative of the geological structure of an underground formation, for example, around a wellbore, in order to ensure the production of oil and gas in commercial quantities. Therefore, it is important to acquire formation data when drilling, completing or producing an oil or gas well.
In order to acquire such formation data, a variety of downhole tools and techniques are used. Such techniques include the use of a multichannel-wireline tool and systems that utilize one or more borehole seismometers, such as a borehole geophone and a continuous-wave geophone.
One prior art method of acquiring formation data from a wellbore includes using a formation testing tool having multiple sensors and a transmitter on the tool or in the wellbore to generate a signal that radiates into the formation. The sensors record a wavefield that is generated as the wavefield reflects from the borehole-tool interface, the formation-tool interface, the formations in the borehole, and from other parts of the signal wavefront. In the case of a continuous wave (CW) tool, sensors are used to detect the main and alternating polarity components of the detected wavefield and to produce a signal that is representative of a waveform of the detected wavefield.
A tool having multiple sensors can only acquire data from the portion of a well that is within the wave-receiving distance of at least one of the sensors. To acquire formation data from a large fraction of the wellbore, multiple such tools must be used at different depths in the well.
Since the tool is typically operated in a downhole environment for extended periods of time, the data acquired at each depth may require substantial amounts of memory. The formation data may need to be stored to be retrieved at a later time. Continuous wave tools have the additional disadvantage of being unable to acquire data when the tool is not transmitting.
Moreover, since the sensors must be spaced apart from one another to acquire formation data from a large volume, such sensors usually produce a spatial compounding of the obtained formation data.

A partially purified covalent synthetase from porcine liver has been purified by affinity chromatography on acetyl CoA bound to concanavalin A-Sepharose and treated with highly purified CoASH (S-CoA). The enzyme’s activity is inhibited by acetyl CoA, propionyl CoA, butyryl CoA, palmitoyl CoA, stearoyl CoA, and oleyl CoA. The endogenous enzyme, as in other liver tissues, appears to be predominantly in the soluble fraction. The active enzyme is soluble, with an amino acid composition different from that of a variety of other hydrolases, and exhibits its covalent synthetase activity on the same amino acid residues as the known covalent acyl-coenzyme A: 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase (EC 18.104.22.168).
