History of Photoshop
Before Adobe introduced Photoshop, many image editors included the concept of layers. The first layers, the “RGB” layers, were introduced by Peter de Haan in 1984 in bitmap editors PhotoPA and PhotoPA++, available in his ImagePAINT program.
By 1987, de Haan was working on PhotoPA for Apple Macintosh. While working on that project, he came across the concept of separation of color values into three layers, later adding an alpha layer (also known as “transparency layer”).
The separation of color into layers enabled the creation of numerous new editing techniques in bitmap image editing. PhotoPA++ soon had a unique user interface for mixing layers that were assembled vertically and added to an image.
By 1994, with the introduction of Photoshop 1.0, de Haan incorporated the concept of layers into the workflow of his software. He added new features for manipulating layers and placed them in a user-friendly interface.
Other features were added to Photoshop by other developers, such as Adobe Systems’ Melissa Dahl, and Scott Noll. Some of the most popular add-ons include the Liquify tool, which allowed users to manipulate various aspects of an image, and the Puppet Warp tool, which allows a user to warp an object within an image to be the same size and shape as the original image.
Adobe’s subscription model is a form of perpetual licensing designed to make Photoshop inexpensive and available to everyone. Although you can purchase a copy of Photoshop, the price is still very high. A few years ago, Adobe changed its licensing model from perpetual to subscription licensing. At that point, the company made Photoshop available as a free download, and it became available to home users without having to pay a yearly subscription.
In 2010, Adobe announced that it would no longer make its entire suite of programs available for free. Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator CS6 became available for free.
The company said that it would not release versions of those programs that are compatible with previous versions of those programs. Adobe emphasized that the company would keep those programs free to users.
However, Adobe did make its After Effects CC and Dreamweaver CC available for free. The company says that it will still keep those programs free and available to users.
Some of the more advanced features that Photoshop has to offer are very expensive. Photoshop’s Liquify tool, which allows a user to control the

Like many small businesses, nonprofits and other organizations that are keen on getting members to join them, the Braddock Health Center located in East Allegany Township (home to the Braddock Borough), has recently implemented Facebook as an avenue to solicit and communicate with its members.
Braddock Health Center (BHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), located at 8 E. Main St., Braddock, has recently incorporated a variety of social media platforms in an effort to increase its presence, engage its members and staff and let members know about new activities.
While BHC currently has various Facebook pages (possible members), they all share the same basic content.
A key benefit of Facebook is the ability to share events, ads and promotions as well as receive feedback from members and the public. This helps BHC engage its members and staff better with the community. It also highlights the organization’s programs and services through a variety of posts.
One of the first pages on Facebook was created in January, 2015 and posts currently appear on a daily basis. The page allows members to subscribe to receive daily updates on topics such as: events, scholarships, community activities and information.
One of the other first pages was launched in May, 2015 and similar to the daily update page, shares timely and informative items about events and other activities.
Incorporating Facebook into BHC’s overall communication strategy has opened up various opportunities for the organization.
Sherry Twitchell, BHC’s social media coordinator and trainer, said the organization also uses Twitter and Instagram for specific programs, and its website (www.braddockhealthcenter.org) for ongoing news.
At times, BHC posts articles and stories from all the pages to enhance its online presence. BHC also uses the group feature on Facebook to invite its members to specific events or provides an opportunity for members to share events and activities.
Incorporating Facebook into BHC’s strategy has opened up numerous opportunities for the organization to communicate with its members.
One of the benefits of Facebook is that Braddock Borough (Borough) is able to have access to the page’s “likes”. By doing so, BHC can use this information as a source for the Borough to determine which programs or events are popular within the community and when events occur. This makes it easier for the Borough to

As a method for preparing a polycrystalline silicon through a thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process, there is known a technique in which an oxide of a metal which is a semiconductor (e.g., tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), tantalum (Ta), titanium (Ti), or the like) is added to a raw material gas for producing monocrystalline silicon and the resulting mixture is thermally decomposed at a high temperature. The above-described technique is generally called solid phase epitaxial growth (SPEG). A polycrystalline silicon layer is obtained in such a manner that monocrystalline silicon is epitaxially grown on a monocrystalline silicon substrate.
In a process of producing a monocrystalline silicon substrate by a Czochralski method, a polycrystalline silicon layer is formed as a monocrystalline silicon seed layer, and a monocrystalline silicon layer is formed thereon, followed by pulling up of the monocrystalline silicon layer. In such a manner, the monocrystalline silicon substrate can be obtained. In this case, a high temperature of about 1000° C. or more is required for pulling up of the monocrystalline silicon layer, and an amorphous silicon layer is formed on a surface thereof due to heat of pulling up.
The polycrystalline silicon layer which is crystallized at a high temperature, however, contains oxygen atoms in a greater proportion and the monocrystalline silicon seed layer has a high oxygen concentration, and thus the concentration of oxygen atoms in the polycrystalline silicon layer becomes high. When the polycrystalline silicon layer is oxidized and an insulating film is formed on the polycrystalline silicon layer, therefore, the monocrystalline silicon layer formed by epitaxial growth thereon is also oxidized, resulting in deterioration of the quality of the monocrystalline silicon substrate.
For epitaxially growing a monocrystalline silicon layer on a monocrystalline silicon substrate, it is known that a raw material gas for producing monocrystalline silicon is added to a raw material gas for producing polycrystalline silicon, and the resulting mixture is supplied to a thermal CVD reactor and then heated at a high temperature (i.e., about 800 to 1000° C.). At this time, the raw material gas for producing monocrystalline silicon is caused to flow on the raw
