The development of novel imaging modalities to assess parathyroid hormone (PTH) receptor expression and in vivo turnover has enabled biochemical and molecular imaging agents to be developed and shown to have diagnostic, prognostic and predictive role in the management of the disease. This review examines the current status of diagnostic and monitoring in primary hyperparathyroidism, and describes the potential clinical value of such imaging agents.
