Our Story
Nurturing Traditions: Building Values and Creativity
Our upbringing instilled in us traditional values like hard work, honesty, and business acumen. Our family played a significant role in nurturing our interests, with PawPaw introducing us to woodworking and crafting items from wood. We also learned from multiple parental figures, gaining valuable experiences from their remodeling business. Mawmaw supported our creative endeavors by providing materials for early woodworking projects. Our childhood was filled with outdoor activities, and we learned to cherish the importance of spending time outside.
From Farming to Firefighting: A Journey of Diverse Skills
From an early age, we were exposed to the world of farming, operating big tractors even before reaching the brakes. Homeschooling at 14 allowed us more time, leading to creative pursuits such as crafting boats and remote-controlled cars from recycled materials. Our thirst for learning and hands-on experience extended beyond the farm, as we worked at a horse farm and engaged in various projects, from fixing things to mastering different skills like welding and operating heavy equipment. By the time we turned 18, we had amassed a diverse skill set, including welding, hydro-testing, sandblasting, and even serving in a volunteer fire department.
From Service to Storage: Building SSB's Success
Despite lacking strong interpersonal skills, the individual pushed themselves into service and outside sales, excelling in selling satellite TV services. After trying various business ventures, they found their way into selling mobile homes, leading them to explore storage solutions for their customers. Unsatisfied with the service provided by a big chain storage company, they ventured into refurbishing and reselling used storage units. This side business flourished, prompting them to establish their company, SSB, initially operating from their parents' property. As the business thrived, they realized the need for a dedicated shop.
From 500 sq ft to 10 Acres: A Journey of Growth and Success
After persistent efforts, I secured a 500 sq ft space for storing materials, marking the beginning of my journey as a Storage Shed Manufacturer and retailer. Drawing from my experiences in the mobile home industry, I applied my knowledge to the backyard building sector. My passion for mathematics found purpose as I delved into the business. Rapid growth led to expanding to 1,000 sq ft and later 1,500 sq ft. Eventually, I acquired a much larger shop spanning 10 acres, signifying substantial progress in my business.

A Message from Smart Size Buildings Owner
In our third year of business, we've achieved 40% annual growth and are excited to aim even higher for the next year—our goal is to double our business and deliver 250 backyard units to our valued customers. We currently operate two retail locations, one manufacturing facility, and have a lucrative wholesale contract. An additional retail display location is in the works and will be open by the end of 2019.
Our journey has been supported by our parents, grandparents, and friends, and we appreciate the valuable lessons learned from past relationships. Our customers' trust and loyalty have been instrumental in our success. We're thankful for our dedicated shop team and cherish the camaraderie we share.
